XScape 2.5

The game XScape offers a contemporary reinterpretation of a classic retro puzzle game from the late 8-bit era. Developed with care by the original creator, it retains all content from the original release while introducing substantial enhancements. These include new gameplay features, upgraded sound and visual elements, an additional 60 levels, star rating systems, achievements, and an integrated audio visualizer for an enriched gaming experience.

Gameplay revolves around controlling MAL, a Mechanised Artificial Life-form, tasked with collecting special tokens and reaching exit portals. Players assist MAL in completing these objectives within specified move counts and time limits. MAL responds to swipe inputs on any part of the screen or touch surface, or via connected controllers. Once in motion, MAL continues until encountering a wall or obstacle. Multiple paths may lead to completion, some offering faster routes or higher scores. Notably, only the special tokens are necessary to activate the exit portal.

The importance of music in enhancing gaming experience is often understated in casual or free titles; however, XScape prioritizes its role. Each world boasts its own unique soundtrack collection, which can be unlocked and enjoyed through the built-in music visualizer accessible via the Extras menu.

As an independent developer managing this project solo, I welcome all feedback and suggestions. I regularly update the game—usually once a month—to incorporate beneficial improvements and new content.
